SARAG is holding a meeting from 11.00am–1.30pm at Sheffield Cathedral on Friday 3rd July to mark national Action Mesothelioma Day 2015 to raise awareness about the asbestos cancer mesothelioma and remember all the people who have died from this insidious disease in the region.
The event will start by a public reading of the names of all the victims who have been killed by asbestos across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire in front of the Cathedral or inside if bad weather.
Invited speakers include Sheffield Lord Mayor Councillor Councillor Talib Hussain, Louise Haigh MP, Paul Blomfield MP, Adrian Budgen Trustee June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund, Sister Helena Stanley Macmillan Lung Nurse Specialist, Northern General Hospital.
A candle lighting memorial service will be held in the Cathedral after the buffet lunch. All monies collected for mesothelioma research on the day will go to the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund.
