Action Mesothelioma Day – Friday 4th July 2014

SARAG South Yorkshire Asbestos Victims Support Group is holding a meeting from 11am -1pm at the Memorial Hall, City Hall, Barker’s Pool, Sheffield on Friday 4th July to mark national Action Mesothelioma Day 2014 to raise awareness about the asbestos cancer mesothelioma and remember all the people who have died from this insidious disease in the region.
Invited speakers include Sheffield Lord Mayor Councillor Peter Rippon, Denis Doody Regional Secretary UCATT Northern Region, Adrian Budgen Trustee June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund, Sister Anne Clegg Macmillan Lung Nurse Specialist, Northern General Hospital, Jawad Qasrawi Hazards Campaign. Members of Sheffield Socialist Choir will also join us to sing at the event.
The event will start by a public reading of the names of all the victims who have been killed by asbestos across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire in front of the City Hall, Barker’s Pool, or inside the Memorial Hall if bad weather.
All monies collected for mesothelioma research on the day will go to the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund. All welcome to attend and light refreshments will be served – to book a place at the meeting or to arrange a dedication please ring SARAG on 01709 360 672.
